How do you talk to yourself?

Do you use the words "can't", "won't", "don't need to", "why try"?Many people do.
Do you find that what you say to yourself turns out to be true?
Why is this?
You see your brain is like a computer that you feed each day. It doesn't know always know what's real or not unless you tell it.
Example: If someone you love has hurt you, you may tell yourself that all people who love you will probably hurt you too.
Your brain just files this information for reference, it's data, little zeroes and ones and no column that asks "true or not true?" Now your brain thinks, based on what you told it, that everyone you'll ever love will hurt you.
How do you think you will respond the next time you get hurt?
Right!!
Now, what if we instead told our brain:
"Okay this person ripped my heart out - but that's only one person. I'm lovable and have many loving people in my life who are not out to hurt me. I know that the right people are coming into my life all the time. If someone hurts me, I will forgive them and bless them on their way."
Words can be empowering.
I canI love toI want toI willI mustI am
We can reach a new level of living, if we feed ourselves empowering words and practice saying them until they become a habit.
I know first hand that it takes time.
And I also know that it's worth it.
Try it for a week.

Self-explanatory

Forget vs Learning

Forget > Learn

The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get the old ones out.

Brain Drain

When land was the productive resource, nations battled over it. The same is happening now for talented people.

Fast-Slow

It used to be that the big ate the small. Now the fast eats the slow.

Paradox

The paradox of our time (2)

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.

We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life.

We've added years to life not life to years.

We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor.

We conquered outer space but not inner space.

We've done larger things, but not better things.

Transformation

At all times and under all circumstances, we have the power to transform the quality of our lives.

Werner Erhard

A Message by George Carlin

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints.

We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less.

We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time.

We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

Words

A husband read an article to his wife about how many words women use a day...
30,000 to a man's 15,000.
The wife replied, 'The reason has to be because we have to repeat everything to men...
The husband then turned to his wife and asked, 'What?'

Never Between you and them

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered; Forgive them anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies; Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you; Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating others could destroy overnight; Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous; Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis,it is between you and God; It was never between you and them anyway.

The history of the world is but the biography of great men.

Thomas Carlyle

Seed Thoughts

Within the silent sorrows found in every human heart

Among the multitude of joy of which this life has part

Are known the secrets of each man by God and self alone

And may be well compared unto a seed which had been sown

Deep within the ground it lay... A planter put it there

The ground held tight its little seed with hopes that it would bear

In darkness it was harbored and later brought to light

That the holding of its contents would be kept from human sight

The pod began to open as the season swiftly passed

The earth pushed forth its hidden grain being manifest at last

Sprig began to turn to vine... More elaborate it had grown

Until in fact it reproduced the seed which had been sown

Thus take note my friend of all the secrets of your being

For the hidden thoughts of yesterday are the ones today you're seeing

Plant often good... Cast out the bad and let your garden well be seeded

With grains of truth, faith, hope, and love as they surely will be needed

And the Day will come when all the fruit be gathered in

The harvest vine... the grapes of wrath will be divided then

Shall we rejoice in harvest song as the reaper takes his part

It will all depend upon the thoughts we've planted in the heart

Doctors - Work

A Japanese doctor said, "Medicine in my country is so advanced that we can take a kidney out of one man, put it in another, and have him looking for work in six weeks." A German doctor said, "That's nothing, we can take a lung out of one person , put it in another, and have him looking for work in four weeks." A British doctor said, "In my country, medicine is so advanced that we can take half of a heart out of one person, put it in another, and have them both looking for work in two weeks." Texas doctor, not to be outdone said, "You guys are way behind. We took a man with no brains out of Texas , put him in the White House and now half the country is looking for work." !!

The Power of Words

A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit. All the other frogs gathered around the pit. When they saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead.
The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit with all of their might. The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died.
The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out.
When he got out, the other frogs said, "Did you not hear us?" The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.
This story gives us thoughts to think about: 1. An encouraging word to someone who is down can encourage them to achieve their goal. 2. A destructive word to someone who is down can have negative effects. Be careful of what you say.
The quote below was sent to me by one of my internet friends, Mr. Russell. His quote describes "words" very accurately:
"Words: The Snow may look smooth and soft, but the rocks underneath are sharp!"

Love, Wealth, or Success?

A woman came out of her house and saw 3 old men with long white beards sitting in her front yard. She did not recognize them.
She said "I don't think I know you, but you must be hungry. Please come in and have something to eat."
"Is the man of the house home?", they asked.
"No", she said. "He's out."
"Then we cannot come in", they replied.
In the evening when her husband came home, she told him what had happened. "Go tell them I am home and invite them in!" The woman went out and invited the men in.
"We do not go into a House together," they replied. "Why is that?" she wanted to know. One of the old men explained: "His name is Wealth," he said pointing to one of his friends, and said pointing to another one, "He is Success, and I am Love." Then he added, "Now go in and discuss with your husband which one of us you want in your home."
The woman went in and told her husband what was said. Her husband was overjoyed. "How nice!!", he said. "Since that is the case, let us invite Wealth. Let him come and fill our home with wealth!" His wife disagreed. "My dear, why don't we invite Success?" Their daughter-in-law was listening from the other corner of the house. She jumped in with her own suggestion: "Would it not be better to invite Love? Our home will then be filled with love!" "Let us agree to our daughter-in-law's advice," said the husband to his wife. "Go out and invite Love to be our guest."
The woman went out and asked the 3 old men, "Which one of you is Love Please come in and be our guest." Love got up and started walking toward the house. The other 2 also got up and followed him.
Surprised, the lady asked Wealth and Success: "I only invited Love, Why are you coming in?" The old men replied together: "If you had invited Wealth or Success. The other two of us would've stayed out, but since you invited Love. Wherever He goes, we go with him.

The Speedometer of Life

There is no doubt, we all put miles on our life's speedometer. It is inevitable; we cannot avoid it. But, this inevitability begs a question: when is it better to put on extra miles?
Are you confused? Let me explain.
Whether we go to work daily, develop our own business, or enter into or develop relationships with others, there are times when it is either necessary, or just a good strategy to do more than is required, or go the extra mile to make a difference.
Take your work environment for example. Your employer requires that you do a certain amount of work, or finish a project based on a certain yardstick of time or performance. All too often, people only do what they have to and no more. Their attitude is one that portrays the notion that they don't owe anything to the company, or what is the company doing for me. When you change your attitude from "what are they doing for me?", to one of embracing "what can I do for the company", you move away from being self-centered to become more value-added. You reflect the attitude of going the extra-mile.
Consider, for a moment, that you reflect an on-going "go the extra-mile" attitude at work. Who do you think will be more likely to get a bonus? Who do you think would more likely be considered for a promotion? Who do you think would be one of the last people to be let go when downsizing, or rightsizing comes to visit?

"There are no traffic jams when you go the extra mile." Proverb

The same notion applies to a great many aspects of life. Often, relationships will more likely flourish when each person goes the extra mile - whether we talk about the union of two people, or whether we talk about service clubs. Who would you rather be one who is known for going the extra mile to make a difference, or the one who does enough just to get by?

I Didn't Know

Birth of a New Human

Transformation is the birth of a new human being, and it begins with speaking the truth about self to yourself. This will open the door to yourself, and when this transformational event happens in the individual, the old and trained conditioned self can die, and a new self can be born. The transformation of the self will bring about a huge mutation of this planet. Transformation of self will birth a new consciousness on earth, and it is this consciousness that will ultimately save us from ourselves.

YOU

The most difficult phase of life is not when no one understands you;

It is when YOU don't understand yourself.

Either

For every thing you have missed, you have gained something else;
And for every thing you gain, you lose some thing else.
It is about your outlook towards life. You can either regret or rejoice.

Presence!

Direct knowledge comes through the participation in the reality that ‘one knows’ and that is called unitive knowledge, the knowledge which illuminates. God has allowed us to know Him through presence so that our knowledge of God is the presence of God in us. Therefore, that knowledge itself burns all otherness, burns all separation and burns all multiplicity from the consciousness of the knower.

Love

Whatever you give to life, it gives you back.

Do not hate any body.

The hatred which comes out from you will some day come back to you.

Love others and love will come back to you.

Find the love factor

Surround yourself with loving, supportive people. Stay away from the dream stealers, the people who would bring you down. Cherish the special people in your life and let them know you cherish them.

Challenge Yourself

Have a clear vision and focus of what you want to achieve and set a time frame. Challenge yourself to be the best you can be at all times. Visualise what you want to accomplish. See it in your mind. Write down your goals, have a plan of action, and never doubt you will be successful.

The "NASRUDDIN" Theory of Neurosis

In his book, "Ennea-type Structures", Claudio Naranjo says that he formulated a theory of neurosis that differs from Freud's libido theory and only partially coincides with the object relations view.
This theory is an existential interpretation of neurosis according to which the bottom line of all psychopathology is the loss of being (i.e. the absence of the direct experience or cognition of being). He calls this the "Nasruddin Theory of Neurosis", in reference to the well known story about Mullah Nasruddin, the famous sufi archetype of the 'wise-idiot'
Once Mullah Nasruddin was on all fours in one of the alleys at the market place looking for the very key to his house. A friend joined him in the search. Only after a long time had elapsed without success did the friend think of asking him "Are you sure that you have lost it here?" To which the Mullah replied " No, I'm sure I lost it at home." "Then why are you looking for it here?" "There is much more light here," explained the Mullah.
The central idea is that we are looking for the key to our liberation, to our ultimate fulfillment, in the wrong places. This error, which has gradually become a well constructed belief system, is the source of our unhappiness.

Action,Knowledge, and Love

There are only three possibilities of relationship with God - the level of action, the level of love and the level of knowledge. On the level of action our duty is to do the right act, to act according to the will of God, to submit ourselves to His will and to sacrifice our own egotistical tendencies for what is good in the ultimate sense. But what brings us to the very courtyard of God, to the very centre of our being, because that immortal self still resides in our heart-centre, is love and of course followed by knowledge. Love and knowledge are the grand paths for this ultimate transformation of the self to reach the proximity of the Divine Self.

We !

We are not human beings on a spiritual journey. We are spiritual beings on a human journey. - Stephen Covey

Question Mark

The best way to bring focus into your life is to never place a question mark where God has put a period.

Faith

All the village people decided to pray for the rain to come. On the day of prayer, only 1 boy came with an umbrella. That's faith.

The Difference

The only difference between where you are right now, and where you'll be next year at this same time, are the people you meet and the books you read.

Self-transformation

Transformation is going from one form to another. Therefore, in self-transformation the question is: what is the form that self comes from and what is the form that self goes to. There is more than one self in us but we are usually aware and conscious of our self as this ego centre, which has now become ourselves and it is this which has to be transformed. Our ‘I’ ness has to be transformed from the limited, windowless ego which tries to assert itself, to the immortal soul whose windows are open into the infinite and who ultimately resides in the Divine Reality. Transformation therefore, means change from the form of this hardened and solidified ego, which is opaque to light, to the immortal soul, the immortal self, which resides in the proximity of the Divine Reality.

The Road Not Taken

By Robert Lee Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that, the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I --

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

Only Once

I expect to pass through this world but once

Any good therefore that I can do

Or any kindness that I can show for any fellow creature

Let me do it now.

Let me not defer or neglect it,

For I shall not pass this way again.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

I am the New Year

I AM THE NEW YEAR

I am unused, unspotted, without blemish,
I stretch before you three hundred And sixty-five days long.
I will present each day
In its turn, a new leaf
In the book of life
For you to place upon
It your imprint

I AM THE NEW YEAR.

Each hour of every day,
I willGive you sixty minutes that
Have never known the use of man.
White and pure I present them;
It remains for you to fill them
With sixty jeweled seconds of Love, hope, endeavor, patience
And trust in God.

I AM THE NEW YEAR.

I am coming -- But once past, I can Never be recalled,
Make me your best!
